DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened the 2014 season with an impressive 2-0 win over UW-Platteville in a non-conference match at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights scored twice in the first five minutes of the game in order to gain a win over a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school since a 2-1 win over UW-Whitewater on Oct. 15, 2006.

St. Norbert jumped ahead on its first attack of the game, when Joe Fabich put home a rebound just 21 seconds into the match. Patrick Hehir and Sam Lamers recorded assists on the goal.

Lamers then gave the Green Knights a 2-0 lead when Nathan Angell crossed a pass to Lamers, who finished with a top right shot.

Platteville (1-1) outshot St. Norbert 18-7, including 14-3 in the second half, but Scott Fall turned in a nine-save performance to register the shutout. Faul made at least three difficult saves to hold the Green Knights' two-goal lead.
