Green Knights Tip St. Mary's

WINONA, Minn. - The St. Norbert College men's soccer team won for the third consecutive match to post a 3-2 triumph over St. Mary's University in a non-conference meeting at Winona State University's Maxwell Field.

The Green Knights, who have won five of their last six matches, are now 8-4 on the season. The Cardinals dropped to 2-9-1.

St. Norbert's Adam Sanchez scored his team-high ninth goal of the season on a penalty kick at 20:38. The Cardinals tied the game on a Cristian Reyes marker at 36:10 for a 1-1 halftime score.

Eric Natwick pushed the Green Knights ahead at 49:21, scoring off a Donny Baloun assist at 49:21. Nick Hren then scored the eventual game-winning goal at 64:11 off an assist from Sanchez. The Cardinals scored the final goal with 26 seconds remaining in the match on a penalty kick by Jovenel D'Haiti.

The match was marred by nine yellow cards, with eight being assessed to St. Mary's, and the Cardinals also held a 25-15 edge in fouls. The Green Knights outshot the hosts 19-6 and held a slim 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Joe Schwartz made two saves to earn the win in goal for St. Norbert. Jon Szafranski made eight saves for St. Mary's.
