DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened Midwest Conference play with another strong offensive showing in posting a 6-1 win over Beloit College at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (4-2, 1-0 MWC) scored three goals in each half and outshot the Buccaneers (3-3, 0-1) by a 24-5 margin.

Katie Vanden Avond scored four of St. Norbert's six goals to move her career total to 106, now good for ninth all-time in Division III history. The four-goal game was Vanden Avond's seventh of her career, and third this season. She also became the leader for most career goals scored by a Wisconsin collegiate women's soccer player, passing Edgewood College's Julie Veloff, who had 104 markers from 1995-98.

Vanden Avond opened the scoring with a goal at 16:16, when some nifty footwork in the box gave her space to score an unassisted goal. She followed at 28:13 with another goal for a 2-0 lead, assisted by Nicole Beine. Mary Burke's unassisted goal on a rebound at 42:48 gave the Green Knights a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Beloit drew to within 3-1 on a goal by Genesis Dade, her ninth of the season. Vanden Avond responded with a goal off a rebound at 55:09, and then scored again on a breakaway off a pass from Monica Stephans at 57:13 for her 15th goal of the season.

Ami Zacker closed out the scoring with a goal at 87:02 off an assist from Sarah Bowles.

Maddie Plinska made three saves for the Green Knights, including turning away a penalty-shot attempt in the second half. Haylee Irwin made 10 saves for the Buccaneers.
