Green Knights Snap Lengthy Cornell MWC Winning Streak

DE PERE - St. Norbert College became the first Midwest Conference school to beat Cornell College in a conference match since the Rams returned to the league in 2012 with a three-set sweep in both teams' MWC opener at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights won by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 to end Cornell's 36-match winning streak against Midwest Conference opponents. Cornell also had a 43-match winning streak against overall conference foes snapped, including seven in its final season in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2011.

St. Norbert pulled away for Cornell in each set to comfortably win. The Green Knights hit .205 in the match, getting 37 kills against 19 errors in 88 attempts. St. Norbert hit .276 (12-4-29) in the first set, while Cornell hit minus-.067 (9-11-30) to give the Green Knights the momentum.

Kristina Herman led the Green Knights with 10 kills and four errors in 16 attempts. Halie Ferry added eight kills, while Justice Janke finished with six kills. Lauren Lehman had 17 assists, while Kaitlin Delahaut finished with 16 assists.

St. Norbert finished seven team blocks, getting five from Anika Johnson and two each from Ferry and Erin Lang. Lehman chipped in with two service aces.

Cornell hit .034 as a team (27-24-89). Nicole Ciari led the Rams with seven kills. Katherine Devlin finished with nine assists, while Mariah Brandly added eight digs.
