St. Norbert Registers First Shutout of Season With Blanking of Beloit

BELOIT - St. Norbert College gained its first shutout of the 2015 season when it fashioned a 33-0 win over Beloit College in a Midwest Conference North Division game at Strong Stadium.

The Green Knights (7-0, 3-0 MWC North), off to their best start since going 10-0 during the 2007 regular season, scored touchdowns on four of their first five possession to take a 26-0 lead into halftime.

St. Norbert marched 65 yards on 10 plays on the game's opening series, scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run by Brad Boockmeier with 10:13 left in the first quarter. Following a couple of defensive stops, the Green Knights needed just five plays to cover 98 yards to score a touchdown on a Jack Becker 13-yard run with 2:33 left in the quarter. Becker's 36-yard pass to Brett Olson on the first play of the series got the Green Knights out of a hole on their own 2-yard line.

The Green Knights scored again when Becker flipped a 5-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Fort with 11:31 left in the second quarter. Beloit went three-and-out on the ensuing possession, and St. Norbert moved 54 yards in eight plays finished by a Fort 1-yard touchdown run at the 6:41 mark.

St. Norbert had one of its longest possessions in recent memory in the third quarter, scoring on an 18-play, 90-yard drive that melted 9 minutes 48 seconds off the clock. The Green Knights registered a whopping six first downs on the series, finished by another 1-yard touchdown run by Fort with 58 seconds left in the period.

St. Norbert outgained Beloit 473-196 in total offense. The Green Knights' defense held Beloit's standout running back Mason Dixon to 45 yards on 17 carries. Dixon entered the game averaging 148 yards per game, which was the eighth-best mark in Division III.

Fort gained 94 yards rushing on 14 carries and two touchdowns, while Boockmeier had 88 yards on 21 carries and one touchdown. Becker completed 14 of 19 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and also rushed four times for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Danny May led Beloit by completing 11 of 19 passes for 62 yards and one interception and also rushing eight times for 31 yards.

Wyatt Veseth led St. Norbert with eight tackles, while Tommy Gonzales and Jerry Blake both had seven tackles. Veseth and Gonzales both had two tackles-for-loss. Antonio Jones led Beloit with 20 tackles.
