St. Norbert Forges Tie at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. - St. Norbert College rallied from a 2-0 deficit and skated to a 2-2 stalemate with Buffalo State University in a non-conference game at Buffalo State Ice Arena.

The Green Knights (8-1-1) found themselves trailing the Bengals (4-3-3) by a 2-0 count early in the second period.

Buffalo State opened the scoring just 3:56 into the game when Taylor Pryce scored for a 1-0 lead. St. Norbert had three power-play opportunities late in the first period, including a full two minutes of 5-on-3 time, but couldn't draw even.

The Green Knights were whistled for a penalty with three seconds left in the first period and the Bengals took advantage when Pryce scored again, his eighth goal of the season, just 39 seconds into the second period.

St. Norbert answered at the 7:18 mark when Steven Phillips scored a power-play goal and then got the equalizer with 50 seconds left in the period when Nick LeSage scored his first collegiate goal.

St. Norbert outshot Buffalo State 10-4 in the third period, but couldn't push ahead. The Green Knights had two power-play opportunities in the first eight minutes of the period, and the Bengals had three power-play chances after that.

Overall, St. Norbert outshot Buffalo State 37-22. T.J. Black made 20 saves for the Green Knights, while Mike DeLaVergne made 35 saves for the Bengals.

St. Norbert was 1-for-8 on the power play, while Buffalo State was 1-for-6.
