Green Knights Cruise Past Finlandia as Adrian Looms

DE PERE - St. Norbert College extended its unbeaten streak to 13 games as the Green Knights claimed an 8-0 win over Finlandia University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (13-1-1, 9-1-1 NCHA), ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com polls, now faces No. 2-ranked Adrian College (14-1-1, 10-1-1) in a two-game series on Jan. 22-23 at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights, 12-0-1 in their last 13 games, scored twice in the first period. Clay Van Diest scored his first collegiate goal at the 12:48 mark. Steven Phillips then scored at 14:10.

St. Norbert scored 27 seconds into the second period when Nick LeSage scored a 4-on-4 goal, and Erik Cooper registered a power-play goal at 1:28 for a 4-0 advantage.

The Green Knights scored four goals in the third period to break open the game. Tanner Froese scored 37 seconds into the period, while LeSage added a power-play marker off a give-and-go at 14:27. Pijus Rulevicius then scored a pair of goals at 18:04 and 19:58 for the game's final margin.

Rulevicius added an assist for a three-point game. Van Diest and Cooper had an assist for two-point games, while Noah Nelson, Ross Pavek and Kyle Lee all had two assists apiece.

St. Norbert outshot Finlandia 43-9. T.J. Black made all nine saves for the Green Knights. Walker Enstad made 35 stops for the Lions.

St. Norbert was 2-for-5 on the power play and Finlandia was 0-for-4.
