DE PERE - St. Norbert College got a shorthanded goal from Ross Pavek in the third period and that was enough to lift the Green Knights past Adrian College 2-1 in a critical Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (14-2-1, 10-2) came into the weekend ranked No. 1 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 and D3hockey.com polls. Adrian (15-2-1, 11-2-1) claimed a 5-4 win over the Green Knights in the series opener Friday.

The game-winning goal was set up when an Adrian shot was cleared out of the offensive zone. A hustling Noah Nelson tracked the puck down below the goal line. Nelson's pass from behind the net went to Pavek, whose initial shot was saved by Bulldogs netminder Tyler Parks, but the rebound went back to Pavek who buried the second chance on a backhand for a 2-1 lead with 13:39 remaining.

Adrian had an extra attacker on for the final 1:39 of the game, but couldn't get the equalizer.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead when Michael Hill scored a power-play goal at the 17:05 mark of the first period. The Bulldogs responded in the second period on Daniel Lisi's goal at the 8:19 mark of the second period.

St. Norbert's T.J. Black made 31 saves to earn the win for the Green Knights, who held Adrian scoreless on six power-play opportunities.

Adrian outshot St. Norbert 32-15. Parks made 13 saves for the Bulldogs, who yielded one power-play goal to St. Norbert in three chances.
