St. Norbert Skates to 1-1 Tie at Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College scored in the first two minutes of the game but couldn't extend its lead and settled for a 1-1 tie against Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Blueline Family Ice Center.

The Green Knights (14-8-2, 9-6-2 NCHA), locked into the No. 3 seeding for the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs, close out the regular-season with the series finale at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fond du Lac.

Kelli Sorge scored just 1 minute 50 seconds into the game to put St. Norbert ahead early. Her second goal of the season was the Green Knights' only score of the night, with Jessica Sherman and Lauren Michael assisting.

Both teams had a pair of power-play opportunities later in the first period but couldn't score. Marian had two power-play chances in the second period but also came up empty on those.

The Sabres netted the equalizer at the 2:52 mark of the third period on a goal by Hailey Miller.

Marian outshot St. Norbert 27-24, including 5-1 in overtime. Brianna Kelly made 26 saves for the Green Knights and Lindsey Strainis made 23 stops for the Sabres.

St. Norbert was 0-for-2 on the power play and Marian was 0-for-4.
