St. Norbert Holds Off Grinnell In 1-0 Thriller

DE PERE - St. Norbert College advanced to the championship game of the 2008 Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Tournament with a thrilling 1-0 triumph over archrival Grinnell College at the Minahan Stadium Complex.
St. Norbert (12-6-1) advances to face Carroll (12-5-2) at Noon Saturday for the tournament championship. Grinnell ended its season 14-5.
The Green Knights, after failing to connect on several quality scoring chances throughout the match, found the back of the net with just over 4 minutes left to play.
Ann Maki served a corner kick to the middle of the goal mouth, where Rachelle Barina headed the ball in for her sixth goal of the season with just 4:32 left to play.
Grinnell did not threaten to tie the score in the game's waning moments.
St. Norbert outshot Grinnell 12-3, while the Green Knights had seven corner kicks to the Pioneers' four.
Mallory Ford made one save for her second complete-game shutout of the season for the Green Knights. Laura McElroy made two saves for Grinnell.
