Boockmeier Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Heptathlon

GRINNELL, Iowa - St. Norbert College senior Brad Boockmeier collected All-America honors after finishing in seventh place in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship at Grinnell College's Bear Athletic Center.

Boockmeier totaled a school-record 4,815 points for his seventh-place finish. Boockmeier, who had 2,782 points after the first four events on Friday, totaled 2,033 points in the final three events Saturday. UW-Stout's Ethen Schoen was the national champion with 5,031 points.

Boockmeier opened Saturday's events with a time of 8.75 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, good for 802 points. He then had a pole vault height of 11 feet 11 3/4 inches for 522 points. He then finished with a time of 2:55.54 in the 1,000-meter run for 709 points.

Boockmeier is the first St. Norbert athlete to qualify for the NCAA heptathlon. It's his third All-America honor in track and field, also acquiring merit in the NCAA decathlon in 2013 and 2015.
