Green Knights Can't Slow Down Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College couldn't slow down a potent Illinois College offense and dropped a 76-69 Midwest Conference decision at Sherman Gym.

The loss snapped a 30-game winning streak for the Green Knights against Midwest Conference opponents.

St. Norbert fell behind by 10 points in the first quarter but trailed just 20-15 after the first 10 minutes. The Green Knights got to within two points in the second quarter at 38-36 but the Lady Blues led 40-36 at intermission.

Illinois College scored the first four points of the third quarter to gain momentum and led by a many as 16 points in the period. The Lady Blues led 62-51 after the third quarter.

St. Norbert got to within five points on three separate occasions in the fourth quarter but couldn't draw nearer.

St. Norbert shot 36.2 percent (21-for-58) from the floor. Jill Kleiman led the Green Knights with 18 points, while Brianna Byrne added 13 points and Regan Carmichael 11 points.

Illinois College shot 46.5 percent (20-for-43) from the floor and was also 31-for-42 at the free-throw line. Carly Cameron led the Lady Blues with 26 points.
