Green Knights Trim Lawrence

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College turned in another stellar defensive performance in its home opener, holding Lawrence University to 26 points under its season scoring average in a 76-45 Midwest Conference win at UW-Green Bay's Kress Center.

The Green Knights (4-1, 3-0 MWC), ranked No. 8 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, held the Vikings (2-3, 2-1) to 12 first-half points en route to the victory. The win was St. Norbert's 67th consecutive triumph against a MWC foe and the 15th straight over Lawrence.

St. Norbert scored the first seven points of the game and never led by less than five points until building a double-digit lead. St. Norbert extended a 13-6 lead to a 23-8 bulge on an 10-2 run over a 7-minute 16-second stretch. The Green Knights led 29-12 at halftime.

St. Norbert scored the first seven points of the second half, getting a hoop by Ben Bobinski, a conventional three-point play from Terrence Garner and a basket from Tim Marshall. After Lawrence hit a 3-pointer, D.J. DeValk scored on a mid-range jumper and Bobinski canned a 3-pointer for a 41-15 lead with 16:35 to go and effectively decide the outcome.

The Green Knights shot 43.1 percent (25-for-58) from the floor. DeValk led the Green Knights with 12 points, while Taylor Penn added 11 points. A total of 13 different players cracked the St. Norbert scoring column.

Lawrence, who committed 24 turnovers, shot 38 percent (19-for-50) from the floor. Jeremy Stephani led the Vikings with 13 points while Mitch Willer added 12.
