Green Knights Blitz Fighting Scots

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College opened the game with an impressive 31-3 kick and had little trouble disposing of Monmouth College by a 91-62 count in a Midwest Conference game at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights (16-3, 13-1 MWC), ranked No. 10 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, shot a blistering 63.6 percent (35-for-55) from the floor for the game and were 13-for-22 (59.1 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.

St. Norbert made its first seven field-goal attempts to jump out to a 16-3 lead. Tim Marshall scored the first two baskets, while Ben Bobinski canned a pair of 3-pointers - the latter at the 15:48 mark for the 13-point lead.

The Green Knights continued their spurt by scoring 15 points in a 4-minute, 19 second stretch. Joe Lemon had five points in the stretch while Bobinski added another triple. Taylor Penn had a conventional three-point play and a 3-pointer, the latter of which gave the Green Knights a 31-3 lead with 10:22 remaining in the first half.

Monmouth trailed 46-20 at halftime and would get no closer than 23 points in the second half.

Bobinski finished with 22 points to lead all scorers, going 6-for-10 from beyond the three-point arc. Mitchell Reinthaler added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Penn and Marshall had 12 points apiece. Lemon finished with five points, 11 rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes off the bench.

Monmouth shot 40.4 percent (21-for-52) from the floor and was outrebounded by the Green Knights 38-20. Will Jones had 16 points to lead the Fighting Scots.
