St. Norbert Breaks Out In Win Over Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. - St. Norbert College scored a season-high in goals with a 7-0 win over Finlandia University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Houghton County Arena.

The Green Knights got four goals in the first 11 minutes of the game to fuel the scoring outburst.

Jillian Kosteck scored just 37 seconds into the game, followed by a Libbie Doney power-play goal at the 7:12 mark. Lauren Michael and Kosteck then scored 32 seconds apart at the 10:20 and 10:52 marks, respectively.

Kosteck then locked up a hat trick with the second period's only goal coming at 8:20. It is Kosteck's first career hat trick.

Rebecka Olsson scored at 3:55 of the third period, and Emily Bondrager scored at 16:49 to close out the scoring.

Jessica Schlaff tied a St. Norbert record with four assists, matching Lauren Roethlisberger against Lake Forest College on Nov. 9, 2013 and Lauren Straus against Marian on Dec. 10, 2010.

Allie Patrick and Natasha Smith each had two assists. Bondrager and Michael had assists for two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot Finlandia 44-18. Brianna Kelly made 18 saves to get the shutout for the Green Knights. Breanna Merriam made 10 saves for the Lions while Annah Smiddy added 27 stops.

St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play while Finlandia was 0-for-4.
