GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College wasted little time taking control in an 80-43 win over Beloit College in a Midwest Conference game at UW-Green Bay's Kress Events Center.

The Green Knights (18-5, 15-3 MWC) finished a second-place tie with Ripon College and will meet the Red Hawks in a Midwest Conference Tournament semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The two teams split the two regular-season meetings.

St. Norbert opened the game on a 12-2 run to take control. Regan Carmichael scored the game's first five points on a 3-pointer and jumper, and then canned another trifecta for a 10-2 lead 5:40 into the game. Sarah Neumann's layup finished the run.

Beloit cut the deficit to 12-7 but the Green Knights finished the first quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 20-7 lead after 10 minutes. Carmichael and Macie Zurfluh had baskets, Mallory Nickerson a free throw and Carley Frauenhoff a 3-pointer to finish the run.

St. Norbert led 37-20 at halftime and scored the first 11 points of the third quarter to ice the win. Nickerson scored the first six points, followed by a basket by Brianna Byrne and a 3-pointer by Carmichael for a 48-20 lead with 5:56 left in the period.

Nickerson finished with a career-high 22 points. Carmichael added 18 points, Byrne 12 points and Frauenhoff 10 points.

St. Norbert shot 48.3 percent (28-for-58) from the floor.

Beloit shot 28.3 percent from the floor, making 15 of 53 field-goal attempts. Shelby Kline led the Buccaneers with 16 points.
