St. Norbert Loses Heartbreaker to St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Norbert College dropped a tough 2-1 double-overtime decision in its season opener to the University of St. Thomas in a non-conference game at South Field.

The Tommies, ranked No. 3 in the pre-season NCAA Division III coaches' poll, got the game-winning at 103:39 on Shae Bottum's goal off an assists from Jacob Makela.

St. Thomas jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute on a goal by Justin Oliver. The Green Knights were able to pull even on Seth Boldt's penalty kick at 67:35.

The Tommies outshot the Green Knights 13-8 and held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks. Both sides had 15 fouls.

Josh Koleske made seven saves for St. Norbert, while Aidan Hogan made two stops for St. Thomas.
