Green Knights Fall Into Tie For First Place

RIPON - St. Norbert College fell into a four-way tie for first place atop the Midwest Conference with a 76-61 loss to Ripon College at Willmore Center.

The Green Knights, Red Hawks, Monmouth College and Lake Forest College are all tied atop the MWC with 10-3 records. St. Norbert, 15-5 overall, faces Monmouth and Lake Forest at home in its next two games.

St. Norbert fell behind 14-2 after Ripon made five of its first six field-goal attempts, including four three-point field goals. The Green Knights pulled to within 19-15 with 9:44 left in the first half, but Ripon got the lead back to 11 points twice later in the half before settling on a 34-25 halftime edge.

The Green Knights got back to within seven points on two occasions, the last at 52-45 with 9:40 remaining. The Red Hawks went on 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take control.

St. Norbert shot 26-for-64 (40.6 percent) from the floor. Mitchell Reinthaler led the Green Knights with 14 points, while D.J. DeValk had 13 points. Brian Luteyn added 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Ripon shot 48 percent (24-for-50) from the floor and was 21-for-28 at the free-throw line. Tyler Semenas led the Red Hawks with 27 points, while Isaac Masters had 20 points.
