Green Knights Sweep North Park

CHICAGO - St. Norbert College extended its winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of North Park University by scores of 6-4 and 5-2 in a non-conference matchup at Kerry Wood Field.

The Green Knights (10-3) rallied for five runs in the top of the ninth inning to win the opener. Trailing 3-1, Brett Reinhart singled and Andy Peterik walked to open the frame. Sean Ferraro then legged out a bunt single to load the bases. Jacob Raeder then brought in a run on a ground out. Tyler Banovich followed with a single up the middle to tie the game 3-3. Sean Grant also brought in a run with a groundout, while Banovich then scored on a wild pitch.

St. Norbert got the game's first run in the seventh inning when Peterik tripled to lead off the inning. Ferraro's sacrifice fly plated Peterik. The Vikings answered with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.

St. Norbert banged out 14 hits, with Ferraro going 3-for-4. Raeder, Reinhart, Robbie Dombrowski and Jack Maastricht all had two hits apiece. Riley Lynch earned the win in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

In the nightcap, Jason Malkowski's RBI single in the second inning gave St. Norbert a 1-0 lead. The Green Knights added a run in the fourth inning on Dombrowski's sacrifice fly. North Park scored a run in the fourth but the Green Knights answered with two runs in the fifth on Raeder's RBI single and Banovich's run-scoring triple. The Vikings got a run in the fifth but St. Norbert would salt away the win in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Dombrowski.

Dombrowski and Malkowski had two hits apiece, while Griffin Jack scored three runs.

Brad Szymusiak earned the win with 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
