Green Knights Drop Slugfest at Carroll

WAUKESHA - St. Norbert College dug itself an early hole and couldn't recover in a 13-10 loss to Carroll University in a non-conference game at Frame Park.

St. Norbert (10-5) fell behind 7-0 through three innings after the Pioneers (10-7) scored three runs in the first inning, one run in the second inning and three more runs in the third inning.

The Green Knights got on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run double by Sean Ferraro, but Carroll went ahead 10-2 with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. St. Norbert got back into the game with a four-run fifth. Sean Grant and Robbie Dombrowski both stroked run-scoring doubles, while Jack Maastricht had an RBI groundout and Jason Malkowski a sacrifice fly. The Green Knights made it 10-7 with a run in the sixth on a Tyler Banovich solo home run.

Carroll scored once in the bottom of the sixth before St. Norbert got the run back in the seventh on a Malkowski solo home run. The Pioneers would get two runs in the bottom of the eight. The Green Knights closed out the scoring on a two-run home run by Ferraro in the ninth.

Ferraro was 3-for-5 with four RBI. Banovich, Grant and Malkowski all had two hits apiece for the Green Knights, who had 10 hits. Carroll had 18 hits, including six for extra bases.

Carson Jacques took the loss for the Green Knights, allowing seven hits and seven runs in three innings.
