St. Norbert Splits On First Day at UW-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH - St. Norbert College split a pair of matches on the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic at Kolf Sports Center. The Green Knights dropped a 3-0 decision to Wisconsin Lutheran College before bouncing back to defeat Elmhurst College.

The Green Knights came up shy against Wisconsin Lutheran 25-17, 25-21, 27-25. St. Norbert hit .154 as a team, getting 40 kills against 22 errors in 117 attempts. Grace Baumann led the Green Knights with 16 kills, while Halie Ferry added six kills. Danielle Dolan had 17 assists and Emily Rohloff 16 assists.

Baumann and Jaisah Lee had nine digs apiece, while Maddy Miller added eight digs. Baumann had two blocks.

Against Elmhurst, St. Norbert pulled out a hard-fought 25-20, 25-22, 28-26 battle. Ferry led the way with 14 kills against one error in 34 attempts. Baumann also finished in double digits in kills with 12. Dolan had 20 assists and Rohloff 10.

The Green Knights had their best blocking match of the season with 8 1/2 team blocks. Baumann had five blocks, while Hanna Strohm and Lexie Van Hiel had three apiece. Lee had 20 digs and Ferry added 10.

St. Norbert will face the University of Chicago and UW-Stout on Saturday in the second day of the tournament.
