Green Knights Win Pair of MWC Matches

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College swept a pair of Midwest Conference duals with a 9-0 win over Monmouth College and an 8-1 win over Illinois College.

The Green Knights (4-4, 2-2 MWC) got off to a good start against Monmouth with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles for Claire Hetzel and Hannah Keller over Emma Johanns and McKenzie DeVilder. Erin Vits and Hannah Swajanen outlasted Rachael Leifheit and Natalie Curtis 9-7 at No. 2. Meg Witt and Morgan Moxon defeated Haley Johnston and Lexi Tibbs 8-1 at No. 3.

Witt dispatched Johanns 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 at No. 1 singles. Hetzel topped DeVilder 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2, while Swajanen needed three sets to beat Johnston 6-1, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 3. Nicole Pfotenhauer trimmed Leifheit 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 at No. 4. Keller topped Curtis, also in three sets, 6-7, 6-1, 10-7 at No. 5. Moxon blanked Tibbs 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

Against Illinois College, Witt and Moxon earned an 8-0 win over AnnaBeth Batson and Mariana Banic at No. 3. Vits and Swajanen earned an 8-3 win over Kalisa Goertz and Madelyn Deardorff at No. 2.

Witt topped Sally Hixson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Hetzel defeated Sophia Roth 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. Swajanen defeated Goertz 7-5, 6-3, and Pfotenhauer topped Deardorff 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Keller and Moxon both earned 6-0, 6-0 wins over Batson and Babic at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.
