APPLETON - St. Norbert College captured its Midwest Conference opener over Lawrence University by a 4-1 count at The Banta Bowl.

The Green Knights (2-6, 1-0 MWC) were powered by Dana Schwab's hat trick, with both of the match's second-half goals to secure the win.

Schwab got things started with a goal at 19:52 off a Hanna Lech assist. Lech then scored unassisted at 27:13, but the Vikings halved the deficit on a Wakana Komura goal about three minutes later. St. Norbert carried a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Schwab then scored an insurance goal at 65:34 with Morgan Edge assisting, followed by the win-sealer at 82:13 with Madalyn Sanderfoot assisting.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 35-3 and held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks. Ally Magiera made two saves for the Green Knights, while Claire Vinopal turned away a whopping 20 shots for the Vikings.
