Green Knights Roll Past St. Mary's in Program Debut

WINONA, Minn. - St. Norbert College's men's swimming and diving program's first-ever meet went swimmingly as the Green Knights rolled to a 123-78 dual win over St. Mary's University.

The Green Knights picked up six event wins and recorded nine runner-up finishes.

Ben Stolberg earned a pair of wins, capturing the 100-yard freestyle (49.25 seconds) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.93). Stolberg was also on the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay along with Marty Blake, Grant Gibson and Jason Hunt, which finished in a time of 1:33.03.

The 200-yard medley relay also claimed first place, with Jed Galutira, Peter Martin, Alex Cervantez and Gibson turning in a time of 1:44.28.

Blake won the 50-yard free style in 22.69 seconds and also earned a second-play showing in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.95 seconds.

Peter Martin captured the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.47 while also finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:08.64.

Jaxsen Schermacher, in his first meet diving competitively, finished second in 1-meter diving with a point total of 138.38.

Cervantez earned two second-place finishes, finishing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.78 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:40.22. Several other Green Knights had solid runner-up showings in freestyle events, including Jeffrey Green in the 50 at 23.56 seconds, Gibson in the 100 at 51.19 seconds and Peader McGrath in the 1,000 at 12:49.49.

Galutira was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 58.22 seconds.
