St. Norbert to Face Trine Saturday in NCAA First-Round Playoff Game

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face Trine University in the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

The Green Knights (9-1) will face the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Thunder (10-0) at Noon EST Saturday at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium in Angola, Ind.

St. Norbert is making its 13th overall NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance -- tied for 14th most all-time - and 12th in the last 20 years. The Green Knights are 1-12 all-time in the playoffs, and have won 17 Midwest Conference football titles since joining the league for football in 1984. St. Norbert's last NCAA Playoff appearance came in 2015.

Trine is making its fifth NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance. The Thunder, who are 3-4 all-time in the playoffs, reached the tournament in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2017.

St. Norbert and Trine have never met in football. The Green Knights have not faced an MIAA school on the gridiron since 1983.
