DE PERE - St. Norbert College opened its annual weekend against East Region opponents with a 3-0 win over Stevenson University in a non-conference game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (5-2-1), ranked No. 3 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com Division III polls, face Neumann University at 4 p.m. Saturday in the second of two games against United Collegiate Hockey Conference foes.

Stevenson (4-3) got off to a strong start, holding the better of play for the first 10 minutes. The Green Knights pushed back with shot even at 9-9 after a scoreless first period.

St. Norbert broke through midway through the second period, when Kurt Black's second-effort shot was good for a power-play goal at 8:15. The Green Knights doubled their lead late in the stanza when Black converted a 4-on-4 opportunity, puffing the net top-shelf at 16:51.

The Green Knights salted the game away in the third period, with Luke Davison scoring unassisted at 14:05.

Davison assisted on Black's power-play goal to join Black with a multi-point game.

St. Norbert outshot Stevenson 33-30. T.J. Black turned away all 30 shots for the Green Knights to register his 15th career shutout. Riley McVeigh made 30 saves for the Mustangs.

St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while Stevenson was 0-for-3.
