Green Knights Wear Down Neumann

DE PERE - St. Norbert College pulled away late to earn a 4-1 win over Neumann University in a non-conference game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (6-2-1), ranked No. 3 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com Division III polls, extended their unbeaten streak at the Cornerstone to 29 games
with the win.

St. Norbert led 2-1 going into the third period when Timmy Nicksic was hauled down on a breakaway by Neumann's Matt Gerber and was awarded a penalty shot at
9:46. Nicksic converted the penalty shot, his first goal of the season, to give the Green Knights a two-goal lead. The Green Knights clinched the win with a Kurt Black
marker with two minutes remaining.

Neumann got the early jump, registering a power-play goal by Thomas Mansbridge just 1:44 into the game. The Green Knights countered with a power-play goal by
Peter Bates at 6:43, with the 1-1 score carrying into first intermission.

The Green Knights were able to take the lead at the 11-minute mark of the second period, when Steven Phillips converted a shorthanded chance for his first goal of
the campaign.

Nicksic and Black had assists for multi-point games for the Green Knights.

St. Norbert outshot Neumann 45-28, including a commanding 22-9 edge in the third period. Ryan Bontorin made 27 saves in his first collegiate start for the Green
Knights. Sammy Bernard turned away 41 shots for Neumann.

St. Norbert was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Neumann was 1-for-5.
