Green Knights Go Cold at Ripon

RIPON - St. Norbert College shot just 32.7 percent from the floor and endured a 67-58 loss to Ripon College in a Midwest Conference game at Willmore Center.

The Green Knights connected on just 18 of 55 field-goal attempts as the Red Hawks pulled away in the second half from a 24-24 halftime tie.

St. Norbert trailed 10-8 late in the first quarter when the Green Knights scored the last six points of the period. Christine Olijnyk buried a 3-pointer and Sarah Ratajczyk converted a conventional three-point play for a 14-10 lead after the first quarter.

The Green Knights held four six-point leads in the second quarter, including 23-17 with 2:23 remaining before halftime after a Sarah Neumann bucket. The Red Hawks would close the frame on a 7-1 run to square the game by intermission.

Ripon held a 33-32 lead with 6:01 left in the third quarter before going on a 7-0 run to gain some breathing room, leading 40-32 with 2:56 left in the period. The Red Hawks led 45-38 at the end of the third quarter. Ripon led by as many as 13 points early in the fourth quarter before St. Norbert closed to within five with 49 seconds left, but would get no closer.

Ratajczyk led the Green Knights with 14 points, while Macie Zurfluh added 12 poitns, six assists, five steals and four rebounds. Olivia DeCleene chipped in with nine points.

Ripon shot 44.6 percent (25-for-56) from the floor. Shannon Sorbo led the Red Hawks with 12 points, while Skyylar Brescia and Maggie Oimoen had 11 points apiece.
