Tarsa Advances to NCAA Steeplechase Final; 4x400-Meter Relay Eliminated

GENEVA, Ohio - St. Norbert College had one of its two entries advance out of qualifying heats on the first day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at SPIRE Institute.

Senior Graceanne Tarsa finished second in her heat in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to advance to Saturday's championship event, while the 4x400-meter relay finished eighth in their heat and did not advance to the final.

Tarsa finished fourth overall after the two qualifying heats with a time of 10:55.66. She will compete for the national championship at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Tarsa clipped The College of New Jersey's Erin Holzbaur by 0.06 seconds for second in her heat.

The 4x400-meter relay of Sarah Duff, Morgan McClone, Maddie Lebrun, Cora Purdue finished with a time of 3:54.36 to finish 14th overall.

Lebrun will compete in the 400-meter run preliminary qualifying heats at 2 p.m. Friday.
