St. Norbert Tops Knox During Busy Weekend

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College claimed one victory in four dual meets held this weekend at Western Racquet Club.

The Green Knights dropped 8-1 decisions to Carthage College and UW-Oshkosh on March 6, and then followed up the next day with a 9-0 win over Knox College and a 7-0 loss to NCAA Division I foe UW-Green Bay.

St. Norbert handily topped Knox in a non-conference match, not losing a set in the entire dual. Eric Koppmann and Matt Schmitz beat Runtian Bai and Michael Tam 8-0 at No. 3 singles, while Jordan Bauer and Mike Hyrczyk defeated Jared Katchen and Nick Craig 8-1.

In singles against Knox, Schmitz topped Tam 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot. Nate Tackaberry beat Nick Craig 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, while Koppman beat Sam Frank 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3. Derek Harrington won at No. 2 singles over Jean Igor-Machaux 6-1, 6-1.

Ethan Kadow picked up St. Norbert's lone point against Carthage, beating Andy Schwenke 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Against UW-Oshkosh, Harrington and Tackaberry won at No. 2 doubles over Seth Bruenig and James Lewison 9-8 (7-5).
