Green Knights Stay Unbeaten in MWC With Win Over Monmouth

DE PERE - St. Norbert College remained unbeaten in the Midwest Conference with a 3-1 win over Monmouth College at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center. The Green Knights topped the Fighting Scots 25-14, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21.

The Green Knights (11-6, 2-0 MWC) got off to a blistering start in the first set, recording 17 kills against just three errors in 35 attacks for a .400 hitting percentage. St. Norbert had 12 hitting errors in the second set, but responded with 17 kills in 35 attempts against no errors in the third set.

Monmouth led the fourth set 18-16 before the Green Knights rattled off four consecutive points to take a 20-18 lead on a Jessica Geurts kill. The Fighting Scots got back to within 22-20 but the Green Knights scored three of the last four points to salt away the match.

St. Norbert hit .255 for the match, with 65 kills against 23 errors in 165 attempts. Lexie Van Hiel had 22 kills with three errors in 33 attempts for a lusty .576 hitting percentage. Emily Terry had 12 kills, while Geurts and Grace Baumann had 10 kills apiece. Emily Rohloff finished with 55 assists.

Liz Maastricht had 22 digs, while Bauman added 18 digs and Terry 10. Van Hiel had four blocks.

Monmouth hit .200, with 43 kills against 15 errors in 140 attempts. Riley Cook had 13 kills.
