Green Knights Topple No. 9-Ranked Loras

DE PERE - St. Norbert College picked up a big victory when it claimed a 2-0 win over Loras College in a non-conference game at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights (7-2-2) got a solid effort in beating the Duhawks (9-2-1), who came into the game ranked No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Poll. St. Norbert last defeated a Top 10 teams when it beat then-No. 2 Loras in a 2-1 win on Sept. 11, 2016.

St. Norbert got off to a strong start, getting a goal at the 7:36 mark. Seth Boldt and Max Censky sent the ball into the the front of the cage, where it pinballed to the foot of Tomas Pazos, who cleaned up to score his first collegiate goal. The marker would hold up through the rest of the half.

The Green Knights scored early in the second half, when Boldt weaved around a couple of Loras defenders and had a clean shot from about 25 yards out to convert on his ninth goal of the season. Daniel Seekings assisted.

Loras made a late push, including a sequence where it got two quality shots in quick succession on goalkeeper Ben Holtzen. Holtzen made both saves to keep a clean sheet, finishing the match with eight saves.

The Duhawks ended up outshooting St. Norbert 11-4, but had a 9-1 advantage in the second half. Each team had two corner kicks. The match was a clean affair, with only 17 total fouls and no cautions issued.
