Pair of Doubles Teams Reach MWC Semifinals

MADISON - St. Norbert College had a pair of doubles teams reach the semifinal round of their respective flights at the Midwest Conference Doubles Championship at the University of Wisconsin's Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Hannah Keller and Emma Merrill at No. 2 flight and Nicole Pfotenhauer and Bethany Zoch at No. 3 flight both advanced to the semifinals before being eliminated.

Keller and Merrill opened play with an 8-7 win over Lawrence University's Morgan Fisher and Jacki Healy in the quarterfinals. The pair was then stopped 8-3 in their semifinal match by Lake Forest College's Tebatso Duba and Tyranny Miller.

Zoch and Pfotenhauer claimed an 8-1 win in the quarterfinals over Monmouth College's Isabel Hammond and Emily Henson. The tandem then fell to Grinnell College's Brenda Guan and Izzy Green 8-5 in the semifinals.

The duo at No. 1 flight, Lauren Paulson and Hannah Swajanen, opened with a tough 8-7 quarterfinal loss to Cornell College's Abbey Nelson and Emmaline Fievet. The pair responded with an 8-6 win over Beloit College's Kiri Youngquist and Priya Henen in a consolation semifinal and an 8-7 victory over Illinois College's Sophie Roth and Sally Hixon in the consolation championship.
