Green Knights Get Six Into MWC Semifinals

MADISON - St. Norbert College had all six of its players reach the semifinal round of their flight but couldn't push anyone through to the championship match at the Midwest Conference Singles Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Lauren Paulson earned a win in her quarterfinal match at the No. 1 flight with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Cornell College's Abbey Nelson. Paulson then lost in the semifinals to Sabrina Tang of Grinnell College 6-0, 6-1.

Hannah Swajanen turned in a 6-3, 6-3 victory in her No. 2 quarterfinal over Sally Hixson of Illinois College. She then fell in her semifinal match to Lake Forest College's Tebatso Duba 6-3, 7-5.

Nicole Pfotenhauer topped Cornell's Regina Bermudez-Smith 6-3, 7-6 in her quarterfinal at No. 3. Pfotenhauer then lost to Grinnell's Ali Hickey 6-1, 6-1.

Hannah Keller enjoyed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Monmouth College's Emily Laughlin in her No. 4 quarterfinal. Keller then dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to Lake Forest's Tyranny Miller.

Bethany Zoch turned in a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Monmouth's Isabel Hammond at the No. 5 quarterfinal. Lake Forest's Natalia Leite topped Zoch in the semifinal match 6-2, 6-1.

Morgan Moxon clipped Monmouth's Emily Henson 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 quarterfinal. Grinnell's Emma Gaydos then topped Moxon 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinal.
