Turnovers Plague Green Knights at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. - A total of 18 St. Norbert College turnovers led to 28 Elmhurst College points as the Green Knights dropped a 75-50 decision to the Bluejays in a non-conference game at R.A. Faganel Hall.

The Green Knights had 11 first-half turnovers turn into 20 Elmhurst points and seven second-half miscues led to eight points for the Bluejays.

The first 12 minutes of the game were tightly contested, with a 9-0 St. Norbert run giving the Green Knights a 17-13 lead with 8:15 left in the first half. Jared Murphy had the first seven points in the run with a pair of baskets sandwiched around a 3-pointer. Connor Curtis' basket finished the run. But the Bluejays countered with a 10-0 run of their own to take a 23-17 lead with 5:14 left in the half after a Derek Dotlich 3-pointer. Elmhurst settled on a 37-24 halftime lead.

St. Norbert got to within eight points twice in the second half, the last time at 42-34 with 14:08 remaining, but St. Norbert would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

The Green Knights shot 37.7 percent (20-for-53) from the floor and outrebounded the Bluejays 36-34. Joe Ciriacks led St. Norbert with 14 points, while Curtis added 12 points.

Elmhurst shot 45.9 percent (28-for-61) from the floor. Jake Rhode had 17 points, while Dotlich added 15 points.
