FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College was stopped offensively in a 4-0 loss to Marian University at Blue Line Family Ice Center in the first game of a home-and-home Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series.

The Green Knights (2-5, 1-4 NCHA) were blanked for the second consecutive game despite being almost even in shots, with Marian (3-3, 2-3) getting a slight 34-33 shots-on-goal advantage.

The Sabres would get all the scoring they would need with a goal by Connor Blanch just 3:53 into the game. That goal would hold up for a 1-0 Marian lead through the first two periods.

St. Norbert would open the third period with 91 seconds of power-play time, but Marian's Gianni Vitali would score a shorthanded goal just 54 seconds into the period for a 2-0 lead. Vitali would again score shorthanded, this time at 14:39. Marian's Brett Radford salted the game away with an empty-net goal at 18:05.

The Green Knights were 0-for-7 on the power play, while Marian was 0-for-8.

Ryan Bontorin made 30 saves for St. Norbert, while Hunter Vorva made 33 saves for Marian.
