St. Norbert Finishes Off Sweep of Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. - St. Norbert College jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one period and ended up cruising to a 6-1 win over Finlandia University in the second game of a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series at Houghton County Arena.

The Green Knights (2-3, 2-0 NCHA), who won the series opener 4-0 on Friday, held a commanding 16-3 shots edge in the first period to take control.

Eve Parker got things started for the Green Knights when she scored her third goal of the season at the 11:10 mark of the first period. Finlandia's Kait Ryynanen tied the score at 1-1 with an unassisted marker 35 seconds later, but St. Norbert would get two goals 1:59 apart later in the period to pull away. Gaby Turer scored at the 16-minute mark for her first collegiate goal, followed by Libbie Doney's third goal of the weekend and season at 17:59.

St. Norbert recorded a power-play goal by Jordan Moore at 15:29 of the second period, her first collegiate goal.

The Green Knights would add a pair of third-period markers, when Hannah Hickman scored her first of the season with a power-play goal at 6:59, followed by Turer's second of the night at 15:53.

St. Norbert's top line of Turer, Parker and Moore combined for 10 points. Moore finished with one goal and three assists for four points, while Turer had two goals and one assist for three points and Parker one goal and two assists for three points.

The Green Knights outshot Finlandia 42-12. Anais Aurard made 11 saves for the Green Knights, while Abby Edstrom turned away 36 shots for Finlandia.

St. Norbert was 2-for-3 on the power play while the Lions were 0-for-4.
