DE PERE - St. Norbert College got a late goal from junior forward Peter Bates and the first career shutout by freshman goaltender Colby Entz as the Green Knights claimed a 1-0 win over Adrian College in the first game of a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights, now 6-0-2 in their last eight games, went ahead when Bates finished a backhand chance with 4:42 remaining in the game. Bates took a pass from Chase Mickelson, carried the puck through neutral ice, and then passed it to himself off the far boards. After the puck returned to Bates' stick, he cleanly beat Adrian goaltender Cameron Gray for the game's only goal.

The one goal was good enough thanks to the play of Entz, who stopped all 33 shots he faced to claim his first shutout at the college level. Entz helped kill off four Adrian penalties against a unit that was operating at 25 percent efficiency entering the game. Adrian had an extra attacker on the ice for the final 1:11 but did not get a quality scoring chance during that time.

The 1-0 win for St. Norbert was its first such win in nearly 12 years, with the last Green Knights' victory in that situation coming on March 1, 2008 against the College of St. Scholastica in the semifinals of the then-NCHA Peters Cup Playoffs.

Gray made 20 saves for the Bulldogs, holding the Green Knights empty on three power-play chances.
