Green Knights Cold In Loss To Ripon

DE PERE - St. Norbert College shot just 30.5 percent from the floor, making just 18 of 59 field-goal attempts in a 70-52 loss to Ripon College in a Midwest Conference game at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

Ripon made its first seven field-goal attempts in jumping out to a 19-2 lead. The Green Knights got to within seven later in the first half, getting to within 24-17 on a pair of free throws by Michael Payant with 6:45 left. St. Norbert then missed a 3-pointer that could have cut the deficit to four points, but Ripon then went on an 8-0 run and took a 35-22 lead into halftime.

St. Norbert got to within seven at 41-34 with 12:08 remaining on a Jared Murphy basket, but Ripon would score the next seven points to seal the win.

Murphy led the Green Knights with 13 points, while Connor Curtis added 11 points and Payant 10.

Ripon shot an even 50 percent from the floor for the game, making 24 of 48 field-goal attempts. Trent Jones led the Red Hawks with 26 points, while Seth Kostroski and Owen Theune added 13 points apiece.
