Weekend Sweep Pushes Tennis Win Streak to Nine

ELMHURST, Ill. - St. Norbert College's men's tennis team won its ninth consecutive match following a pair of dual meet wins over the weekend.

The Green Knights, now 16-8 overall, topped Carroll University 9-0 in a Midwest Conference match on Saturday and then defeated Elmhurst College 9-0 on Sunday. St. Norbert's nine straight wins are a school record, and it also tied a school record for wins in a season at 16.

The No. 3 doubles tandem of Eric Koppmann and Matt Schmitz extended their winning streak to 11 with a pair of wins. The duo beat Carroll's Adam Knoelke and Shea O'Rorke 8-2 and then went on to eke past Elmhurst's James White and Justin Guenther 9-8 (7-5).

Schmitz extended his singles winning streak to eight. Schmitz beat O'Rorke 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, and then topped Elmhurst's Matthew Ingraffia 6-1, 6-3.

Derek Harrington won his seventh in a row at No. 2 singles, topping Carroll's Seth Pamperin 6-2, 6-1 and Elmhurst's David Devaney 6-0, 7-6 (7-5).

Ethan Kadow pushed his winning streak to six at No. 5 singles, beating Carroll's Adam Knoelke 6-1, 6-4 and Guenther 6-0, 6-1.

Jordan Bauer also won a pair of matches at No. 1 singles, topping Michael Wajda of Carroll 6-0, 6-1 and Dave Douglass of Elmhurst 6-3, 6-2.
