Netters Make History With Win Over Ripon

RIPON - St. Norbert College's men's tennis team set a school record for wins in a season while extending its winning streak to 10 with a 7-2 win over Ripon College in a Midwest Conference dual at Larson Courts.

The Green Knights improved to 17-8 on the season, surpassing their previous best of 16 set in 2007. St. Norbert, which hasn't lost since an 8-1 setback to Macalester College on March 16, can win the MWC North Division against Lawrence University Sunday in Appleton.

St. Norbert picked up two doubles points. Eric Koppmann and Matt Schmitz moved their winning streak to 12 with an 8-1 win at No. 2 over Jake Knaapen and Alex Tande. Nate Tackaberry and Tommy Weiler then beat Matt Theis and John Suchy 8-0 at No. 3.

Derek Harrington extended his singles winning streak to eight, while Ethan Kadow won his seventh in a row. Harrington beat Jay Hardacre 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Kadow topped Theis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.

Jordan Bauer beat Dan Weiler 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, while Koppman topped Knaapen 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Tommy Weiler beat Suchy at No. 6 by a 6-0, 6-1 count to round out St. Norbert's wins.
