Green Knight Women Get Back on Track at IC

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The St. Norbert College women's basketball team bounced back from its first conference loss of the season with a 53-37 win over Illinois College at Sherman Gym. The Green Knights stand at 12-4 overall and 8-1 in the Midwest Conference, while the Lady Blues fell to 8-7, 4-4.

St. Norbert used a strong defense to take command of the game. The Green Knights held Illinois College to six points in the first 14 minutes of the game to take an 18-6 lead. St. Norbert led 21-14 at halftime.

Illinois College would close to within five early in the second half, but would get no closer than 39-32 with 5:08 left to play. The Green Knights would make 12 of their last 13 free throws in the final 3:05 to salt away the win.

St. Norbert shot just 34.8 percent from the field, making 16 of 46 field goals, and was 0-for-10 on 3-pointers. The Green Knights did shoot 21 of 28 at the free-throw line. Morgan Strasser was the only St. Norbert player to reach double figures at 12 points.

Illinois College shot just 23.2 percent from the floor, making 13 of 56 field goals. The Lady Blues were just 7-for-32 from the floor in the second half. Rachel Macon's eight points led IC, which had 28 turnovers.
