St. Norbert Splits Opening Pair of Matches

EAU CLAIRE - St. Norbert College opened its 2009 women's tennis season with a split of dual matches against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes. The Green Knights topped UW-Stout 5-4 before falling to host UW-Eau Claire 8-1.

Against Stout, St. Norbert took two doubles matches. Allyson Yankle and Erin Riutta topped Erin James and Anna Eckhardt 8-3 at No. 2. Maria Slusarek and Callie Schroeder beat Stephanie Schick and Callie Mikolajczak 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

St. Norbert claimed a win at No. 2 singles when Lauren Post topped Abby Werwie 6-1, 6-3. Slusarek won at No. 5, topping Schick 3-6, 6-1, 11-9. Schroeder beat Nicole Seitz at No. 6 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score.

Post picked up St. Norbert's lone point against Eau Claire, moving up to No. 1 singles to best Gina Dahl 6-4, 6-1.
