Green Knights Battle No. 19 Lawrence In Loss

DE PERE - St. Norbert College and Lawrence University were locked in a tied game inside the final four minutes, but the visiting Vikings pulled out a hard-fought 65-56 win in a Midwest Conference game at Schuldes Sports Center.

Lawrence, ranked 19th by D3hoops.com, got a 3-pointer by Doug Kadison off an offensive rebound with 3:08 left to break a 50-all tie. Kadison then scored a fastbreak layup off a St. Norbert turnover for a 55-50 advantage with 2:29 to go.

Tom Katzfey hit a pair of baskets for St. Norbert sandwiched around an Andy Hurley basket for Lawrence, but the Green Knights would get no closer than 57-54 with 1:18 left. Lawrence made all eight of its free throws in the game's final minute.

Lawrence jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the game's first seven minutes before St. Norbert slowly climbed its way back. St. Norbert went on a 24-6 run from the 13:04 mark of the first half to the 2:34 mark prior to halftime. St. Norbert led 30-24 at halftime.

Katzfey hit a layup to put St. Norbert ahead 32-24 early in the second half. Lawrence went on a 15-4 run over the next five minutes for a 39-36 lead. The Vikings would not lead by more than five points - leading 50-45 with 6:01 left - before St. Norbert tied it at 50-50 on Bryan Fleischmann's 3-pointer and a layup by Katzfey.

Lawrence shot 47.7 percent from the floor for the game, led by Ryan Kroeger's 15 points. Hurley added 14 points and Kadison 13 for the Vikings.

Katzfey led St. Norbert with 13 points, while Mike Dowden added 11 points and Tony Jandron 10. The Green Knights shot 38.2 percent from the floor for the game, making 21 of 55 shots.
