Early Lead Holds Up as St. Norbert Tops Lawrence

APPLETON - Two second-half St. Norbert College held up as the Green Knights topped Lawrence University 2-1 in a Midwest Conference match at the Alexander Gym Complex.

St. Norbert improved to 9-7 overall with the win and is 7-1 in the MWC. Lawrence fell to 10-5, 4-4.

Caitlin Carrigan scored the game's first goal, netting her third marker of the year at 22 minutes 36 seconds with Brittany Kosobucki assisting. Stephanie Gatyas scored shortly thereafter off an assist from Jordan Schwanke at 24:01. It was Gatyas' 11th goal of the season.

Lawrence couldn't find the back of the net until late in the match, when Mallory Koula scored her 22nd goal of the season at 86:21.

Lawrence outshot St. Norbert 16-12 and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Cara Tazioli made eight saves for the Green Knights, while Lindsey Ahlen made seven stops for the Vikings.
