GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College rebounded from its worst Northern Collegiate Hockey Association loss in nine years with a 5-2 win over UW-Superior at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights, who lost 5-1 to UW-Eau Claire last Saturday, improved to 14-3-1 overall and 9-2 in the NCHA to hold a three-point league lead. Superior fell to 8-8-2, 2-8-1.

St. Norbert was able to build a 3-0 lead after two periods. Dylan Exton scored his third goal of the season just 2 minutes 31 seconds into the game when he converted a Superior defensive zone turnover into a score. The Green Knights wouldn't score again until Tyler Allen's power-play snipe with 13:15 gone by in the second period. St. Norbert added another power-play marker on Mike Bernardy's fifth goal of the season, a shot from the right point at 17:43.

Superior answered quickly in the third period with a couple of power-play goals of its own. Derek Stauber scored at 2:30 of the period, and Chris Wilson's deflected shot found the net at 7:15.

St. Norbert held the 3-2 lead until Nick Tabisz's shot from the high left point got past a screened Superior goaltender Bryan Dalbec with 4:55 remaining. Scott Pulak's empty-net goal with 2 seconds left closed out the scoring.

The Green Knights held a commanding 45-16 lead in shots on goal. St. Norbert was 2-for-9 on the power play, and had just four penalties. Superior was 2-for-3 on the power play and had 10 penalties.

B.J. O'Brien made 14 saves for St. Norbert, while Dalbec made 40 stops for the Yellowjackets.
