St. Norbert to Face Hope in First-Round NCAA Tournament Game at UW-Stevens Point

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face Hope College in a NCAA Division III Tournament first-round game at 5:30 p.m. Friday at UW-Stevens Point's Quandt Fieldhouse.

The Green Knights (22-3) also faced Hope in their last NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2002. Hope claimed a 54-53 win on a last-second basket in a first-round game at Schuldes Sports Center.

Tickets are available through the UW-Stevens Point box office at 715-346-4100. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and 18-under and $3 for college students with an ID.

St. Norbert is making its third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. The Green Knights reached the second round of a 32-team tournament in 1984, beating North Central (Ill.) College 69-56 before losing to eventual national champion UW-Whitewater 87-84 in triple overtime.

Hope enters the tournament with a 21-7 overall record. The Flying Dutchmen qualified for their 21st NCAA Division III Tournament with a 78-74 win over archrival Calvin College in the championship game of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament. Hope finished 11-3 in the MIAA regular-season to finish one game behind champion Calvin.

Host UW-Stevens Point (23-4) will face Carleton College (19-9) in the other game of the regional at 8 p.m. Friday. The second-round game will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Point.
