Green Knights Split With Greenville

LAKE WALES, Fla. - St. Norbert College split a doubleheader with Greenville College, winning the opener 10-3 before losing the nightcap 8-7 at Warner Southern College.

St. Norbert, now 4-5 overall, will face Anderson University in its final game on its Florida trip at 10 a.m. EDT on Saturday.

The Green Knights trailed 2-0 in the opener before scoring eight times in the bottom of the fourth inning. St. Norbert pounded out eight hits in the inning, Jared Yost had a two-run triple in the frame, while Garrick Fisher had RBIs in both of his at bats in the inning. Tony Jandron and Jordan Powers also had RBI singles in the uprising.

Jandron finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and was also the winning pitcher, allowing eight hits and three runs with one walk and four strikeouts in six innings. Matt Hannon was 3-for-4 and Yost was 2-for-4. Fisher finished with three RBIs.

St. Norbert fell behind 8-1 in the nightcap but couldn't rally. The Green Knights scored four in the fifth and two more in the sixth but couldn't draw closer.

Chris Hillesheim and Yost had RBI doubles and Jandron had a two-run double in the fifth. Hannon added a two-run single in the sixth.

Jandron was 3-for-4, while Hillesheim and Jeff LaJeunesse had two hits apiece. Bryan Stoppenbach took the loss, allowing nine hits and eight runs in 3 2/3 innings.
