Green Knights Place Second at Ripon; Scherer Sets School Record in 10K at Stanford

RIPON - St. Norbert College finished in second place at the Ripon College Sherman-Lukoski Invite to open the 2010 outdoor track and field season.

The Green Knights finished in second place with 162 points. Division II Northern Michigan won the meet with 266 points.

Additionally over the weekend, Jenny Scherer automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship in the 10,000-meter run. Scherer ran a school-record 35:21.70 in the 10K late Friday night at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

Megan Domnick claimed the only St. Norbert title at Ripon with a win in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.53, nearly three seconds faster than the runner-up.

St. Norbert's 4x100-meter relay was second with a time of 52.42 seconds.

Danielle Allen and Katherine Larson took second and third, respectively, in the long jump with leaps of 16-2 1/2 and 15-2 1/4. Sarah Albert was second in the triple jump at 33-11 1/2, while Larson was third at an even 32 feet. Danielle Krause was second in the pole vault at 8-6 1/4, and Lindsay Wiebe was second in the high jump at 5-0 1/4.

Anne Mueller was second in the 100-meter hurdles (18.34 seconds) and third in the 400 hurdles (1:16.40). Andrea Bosman was third in the 100 hurdles at 18.66.

Amanda Whipple was third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:09.91, and Calli Nonnemacher was third in the 400 with a time of 1:05.30.
