St. Norbert Splits On Road at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College had its school-record 12-game winning streak end but also ended UW-Stevens Point's 11-game winning streak as the two teams split a non-conference doubleheader at McCarty Memorial Field.

The Pointers (16-6) won the opener 6-5 before St. Norbert (18-6) rebounded to take the nightcap 6-4.

Stevens Point snapped a 2-2 tie with two runs in the fourth. The Green Knights cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth, but the Pointers scored twice in the sixth for a 6-3 lead. St. Norbert scored twice in the seventh but left two runners on base to end the game.

Tracy Palmer was 3-for-5, while Brieanne Oehlke, Collette Ullmer and Brittany Narges were all 2-for-4. Kayla Krueger suffered her first loss of the year, dropping to 8-1 after allowing four runs in four innings.

Stevens Point led 4-1 after four innings in game two, but St. Norbert scored three times in the fifth and twice in the seventh to get the win. Stephanie Ortiz stroked a two-run double and Krueger added an RBI triple in the fifth to give St. Norbert the lead.

Ortiz was 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the nightcap, while Krueger was 2-for-4. Kari Corbeille went the distance to improve to 5-3, allowing nine hits with two walks and one strikeout.
